The objective of the M.Phil Programme is to educate participants to the level of professional researcher capable of producing knowledge in the field of management in consulting or corporate environments. This is accomplished through the process of learning how to and then independently completing a research project.

The degree programme entails several steps.


The first year consists of the preparation of a detailed research proposal. Candidates also are required to take coursework designed to assist in the preparation and execution of a research project.

Upon successful completion of the first year, candidates conduct their research project and prepare their dissertation in the second year. At the end of this year, an oral defence of their research is conducted, with successful outcomes leading to the award of MPhil being conferred.

Individuals wishing to pursue an MPhil at ESC Rennes School of Business should be mature independent thinkers capable of working for an extended period of time on a project. The degree process is a demanding yet rewarding one, which will allow the individual to develop their capacity to understand and participate in the creation of knowledge in their chosen field.

Admission requirements

 

Admission to register for the MPhil programme is normally granted to students holding one of the following qualifications:

 

puce_Institutionnelle A French degree or a French diploma (maîtrise) awarded by the State of at least four years duration after the baccalaureate in the subject of business and management;

 

or

 

puce_Institutionnelle A first or second class Honours Degree from a UK or any other institution of higher education in the UK with degree-awarding powers, or any other qualification regarded by the institution as being equivalent to such an Honours Degree in Business Studies or related subjects;

 

or

 

puce_Institutionnelle A four-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from a North-American accredited institution in Business Studies or related topics;

 

or

 

puce_Institutionnelle Qualifications other than those described above can be considered on their merits. The applicant must show definite evidence of knowledge and research potential for the proposed programme.
