Practical Information

ESC Rennes School of Business is located in Rennes, the capital city of Brittany, 2 hours from Paris by TGV fast train and 1 hour by plane from London. It is regarded by the national press as being one of the best places to live among France’s largest cities (‘‘L’Express’’, June 2010). With a population of 400 000, including 60 000 students, Rennes offers the full advantages of a large city while at the same time being convivial in size. Students will benefit from a very attractive urban, sporting and cultural environment: modern sports facilities, cinemas, theatres, cultural centres, museums, libraries, restaurants and pubs.

Visa and OFII form

All students living in a non-European country will have to apply for a visa. Please check with you nearest Campusfrance agency, French Embassy or Consulate.

The OFII form will enable the students to travel in the Schengen-member countries and will entitle them to the housing allowance. If they do not go through this formality, they may not be able to re-enter France in the future.

On acceptance at ESC Rennes School of Business the students will receive the official acceptance letter in English, its translation into French (for visa purposes) and an additional letter in French for the Embassy / Campus France

Insurance

Travel insurance

Before the students leave their country, they must make sure that they have taken out travel insurance with repatriation in case of serious health problems, accident etc.

N.B. Students who must apply for visas are often asked to take out repatriation and other insurances by the French Embassy.

Health insurance

All students are required by French law to take out the French Student Health Insurance. In 2012/2013 it cost € 207. Only students from the European Community are exempt IF they can produce a nominative and valid EHIC (European Health Insurance) card for the length of their studies in Rennes

Private insurance cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

It is illegal for students to attend French universities if they do not have the above mentioned Health Insurance

Accommodation insurance

French law stipulates that all persons who rent accommodation must have civil responsibility and third party insurance at their address in Rennes; some property owners include this in their «rental package». If not, the students can buy this with their French bank.

ESC Rennes School of business does not have on campus residences. However the Accommodation Department at ESC Rennes helps the international students find suitable accommodation providing various options (student residence, private house, shared flat, homestay family).Once the students have been accepted, they will receive all the information to finalize the accommodation procedure.
